Bridge segments and Super-Ts

Bridge elements move through a demanding sequence of storage, lifting, placement and deck construction. NON-DRILL can use suitable cast-in anchors or ferrules on segments, girders and deck panels to bring Edge Protection into that sequence without drilling new post fixings into the concrete. On the Eastern Freeway Transfloor works, handrails were fitted to panels at ground level before they were lifted into position. For Super-T girders, the flange and available connection points shape the detail.

The starting point

Use the connection already available, or consider it early.

NON-DRILL begins with the structure, the anchor or fixing point and the Edge Protection requirement. The product is then matched to the application rather than forcing the project into a generic arrangement.

01

Existing connection

Identify what is already cast into or available on the structure and review the relevant NON-DRILL product.

02

Design-stage connection

If the project is early enough, consider the position and purpose of the connection before manufacture or construction.

Application journey

From project information to an agreed pathway.

Each application follows the same route: identify what the structure already offers, match it to a connection, and agree the installation arrangement.

01

Review the structure

Confirm the element, project stage and when Edge Protection is required.

02

Identify the connection

Review existing anchor information or the opportunity to plan a connection into the build.

03

Confirm the arrangement

Provide the relevant product, installation and technical information for project review.

What to establish

Questions for the first project conversation.

01Are anchors existing or still being designed?

02Is protection required during storage, transport or installation?

03What are the element geometry and working-edge requirements?

04Which drawings and temporary works information are available?

Common questions

What project teams need to know first.

Can NON-DRILL be considered for Bridge segments and Super-Ts?

Bridge elements move through a demanding sequence of storage, lifting, placement and deck construction. NON-DRILL can use suitable cast-in anchors or ferrules on segments, girders and deck panels to bring Edge Protection into that sequence without drilling new post fixings into the concrete. On the Eastern Freeway Transfloor works, handrails were fitted to panels at ground level before they were lifted into position. For Super-T girders, the flange and available connection points shape the detail. The available anchor, structure and complete Edge Protection arrangement must be reviewed for the project.

Does the anchor need to be planned into the design?

Not necessarily. Existing anchors are the most common starting point. Where the project is still at design stage, connection points can also be considered early.

What should I send for an initial review?

Send drawings, anchor details, dimensions, clear photographs, the project stage and a description of the Edge Protection requirement.

Discuss your project

Discuss a Bridge segments and Super-Ts application.

Send the drawings, anchor details, photographs and project stage. NON-DRILL can help identify the likely next step.
