Where NON-DRILL is used

Multiple starting points.One simple question.

What are you connecting to? Select an application to see what NON-DRILL would need to review.

02 / Application

Precast panels - high-rise / data centres

Precast panels often arrive with lifting anchors or planned cast-in ferrules that can provide a starting point for Edge Protection. NON-DRILL matches its connection to the panel and, where the lifting method allows, can be fitted before the panel reaches height. That moves handrail work to a more manageable stage and avoids drilling new fixing holes into the finished panel. At Eastern Creek, preset ferrules in data-centre panels provided the connection for a project-specific roof-edge arrangement.

Parapets

Bridge parapets bring the need for Edge Protection close to finished concrete and active construction work. NON-DRILL can connect to suitable cast-in points on the parapet or to anchors planned into the segment design, instead of relying on new drilled fixings after placement. Top- or side-mounted arrangements can be considered according to the available space and work sequence. The connection, post layout and handrail are then detailed for the particular parapet and project.

06 / Application

Culverts

Precast culvert units commonly have lifting anchors along their top edges. Where those points are suitable, NON-DRILL can use them to install Edge Protection after the units are placed, without drilling new post holes. At headwalls and wing walls, a side connection using planned ferrules can keep the top surface available for forming and finishing work. This gives the project team a way to coordinate protection with the culvert installation and the next stage of construction.

Undercover walkways

A covered walkway can sometimes start with connection points already in the site barriers. At Barangaroo, NON-DRILL used the lifting anchors in concrete Jersey barriers to support a foldable, relocatable covered walkway. It provided a route that could move as the work changed without drilling into the barriers or adding a separate line of concrete footings. The cover, posts, barriers and wind loading were considered together as one project-specific arrangement.

08 / Application

Container Edge Protection

When crews need access to the top of a site container, the exposed edge needs a practical protection method. NON-DRILL has a container connection designed for the existing locking slots on 20-foot and 40-foot containers, so handrail posts can be installed without drilling or permanently altering the container. Stairs and landings can be coordinated with the protected work area, giving the team a more complete access arrangement.

09 / Application

Shear studs on steel beams and bridge decks

Shear studs already present on a steel beam or bridge deck may offer a connection for temporary Edge Protection. NON-DRILL has a purpose-designed shear-stud fitting that can support posts without drilling new fixings into the deck. This allows the handrail method to be considered alongside the steelwork and deck installation sequence. The stud dimensions, spacing, loads and complete handrail arrangement determine whether the connection is suitable for the project.

10 / Application

Sheet pile

Sheet-pile works can leave long exposed edges while excavation or retaining work progresses. NON-DRILL’s sheet-pile connection offers a way to position Edge Protection along a suitable pile line without drilling new fixing holes. The pile profile, thickness, condition and location of the work area inform the connection and handrail layout, allowing protection to be planned around the actual edge rather than added as an awkward afterthought.

11 / Application

Side connections

Sometimes the top of a concrete element needs to stay clear for a pour, access or the next piece of construction. NON-DRILL can connect posts to suitable ferrules in the vertical face, keeping the handrail fixing off the working surface. At Evans Road, a face-mounted arrangement protected a nine-metre-deep pit while slab work and gated access continued. The connection and access points were considered together, so the protection did not create a new obstacle.

12 / Application

Steel stirrup connections

Where a suitable steel stirrup or reinforcing-bar arrangement is already available, NON-DRILL has a connection that can use it as part of an Edge Protection system without drilling into the concrete. This gives the project another option when a conventional lifting-anchor connection is not present. The bar size, position, condition and the loads on the complete handrail arrangement need to be checked before that option is selected.

14 / Application

Hoarding

Jersey barriers can provide more than a boundary: their suitable lifting anchors can also provide connection points for hoarding posts. NON-DRILL used this approach for a CPB Contractors project, supporting timber hoarding from existing barriers while reducing the need for extra drilling, framing and propping. Because hoarding catches wind, the barrier, post, screen height and site conditions are assessed together. The result is a practical temporary-works arrangement built around the barrier already on site.
